- WHERE YOU GREW UP AND WHAT IT WAS LIKE: Plymouth, Mich., located between Detroit and Ann Arbor. The town was peaceful and simple, and we lived “out in the sticks,” which meant we were outside the true city limits. The area had winding dirt roads, hills, dense forests and more. I remember eating wild strawberries and blackberries and building an elaborate tree fort. I enjoyed my childhood away from the nearby hustle and bustle of “Motor City.”
