The Equilibrium report provides multi-year view of expected vs. actual permits as a way to monitor the state of equilibrium. Housing Prospects Index National subscribers can view all reports for all 939 statistical areas as well as our Housing Prospects Index. This index was constructed for the purposes of judging the relative prospects or attractiveness of each MSA in the US for future housing performance. It is composed of four underlying indices that measure the current local housing market equilibrium, the prospects for the local economy over the next five years, likely home price appreciation over the next five years, and the possibility for home price declines in any of the next five years. Market Trends In addition to our three standard reports, enhanced subscribers can also access charts powered by Altos Research, which provide the best pulse reading for housing market trends today.
